Kinndli's Power Flow Playlist

Ok my friends, today I am sharing with you a recent playlist that I used for a Power Yoga Jam class (Baptiste Yoga + music). Just a little sample of what you will experience when you join me at the Baptiste Power Flow Immersion in Estes Park Colorado, Sept 14-17, 2014 for my workshop on Super Sequencing and Musicality.

My intention with this mix is to evoke in you, the listener and the yogi on your mat, an experience of celebration, aliveness and connection. I like to choose each song intentionally to match and emphasize each part of the Journey Into Power Sequence.

First, to set the mood off I chose this remix of "Riders on the Storm” by Yonderboi. It does the trick perfectly by taking you out of the usual and into a new world. During the Integration Series you land in your body and get present to the journey you are about to embark on.

In silence we take 3 Om’s together.

Let the fun begin with “Feel So Close” by Calvin Harris to awaken our bodies in the Sun Salutations. If you know me at all, you know about my obsession with Justin Bieber and “Beauty and a Beat” keeps me a Belieber.

“A Sky Full of Stars” has Coldplay dipping into the EDM craze and we will need the extra lift to keep our vitality up for the Warrior Series. When you create your music playlists, it is important to add songs that have some space in them, allowing for pause and breath like, “Best Day of My Life” and “On Top of the World.” This mirrors the natural ebb end flow of the sequence with intense moments and more open grounded space to allow for inner reflection.

To evoke equanimity in the Balancing Series we call upon PM Dawn to do what they do best, “Set Adrift on Memory Bliss,” and Sam Smith’s velvet voice in “Stay With Me” melts any hardening in your heart.

The Triangle Series asks of you to find your center so I match this series with my latest boy crush….Ed Sheeran with “Thinking Out Loud.” Then what would a jam class be without MJ? So, of course, he makes his presence known with, “Will You Be There,” and he drives us to the peak of the practice in backbends all the way to Wheel pose!

As we ease into our Hip Series, Trevor Hall cracks us open with the help of Xavier Rudd.

The combination of an intentional playlist and the beautiful, intelligent flow of the Journey Into Power Sequence intertwine to make magic happen. Teaching a Power Yoga Jam is to simply orchestrate the magic that happens naturally.

As we ease into Savasana with, “I’m Gonna Be" (500 miles) acoustic remix, there is a moment to reflect and let in all of the playful connection and heart opening you have just experienced.

I wouldn’t be surprised if you found yourself holding hands with your sweat drenched savasana neighbours. :)

Thanks for going on this journey with me and I look forward to flowing with you soon!
