Trainer Bio

I had left my job as a tenured physical education teacher when my second child was born. A painful overuse injury and recovery, divorce, remarriage and pregnancy later, I turned to yoga as not only a movement form that would be sustainable in my post-injury body, but as a way to keep myself current in the field of physical education. Between 2012-2013, I attended a multi-children’s yoga teacher training before having much of an idea of even basic poses. I was able to bring yoga and mindfulness into my teaching at my new school right away and though my knowledge was a mile wide and an inch deep, it became a huge part of my work as a PE and health teacher.

On a leap of faith, I signed up for a 200-hour yoga teacher training led by an amazing leader who celebrated the many branches, traditions, practices of yoga. We were fortunate to be able to practice and learn from several leaders of Bikram, Ashtanga, and Baptiste yoga. I knew right away that something about Baptiste Power Yoga intrigued me, but I still wasn’t certain that I even liked any type of yoga at that point for personal practice; I left the training without any intention of teaching adults or even a plan to commit myself to a personal practice. I continued teaching yoga and meditation in school and attending occasional studio classes.

On a whim in January 2016, I signed up for 40 Days to Personal Revolution at the studio in my town. This time, something “stuck” and when the “What’s Next” cards were distributed toward the end of the program, I knew without hesitation that I would attend Level 1. I ended up completing the Baptiste Kids’ Yoga Teacher Training and Level 1 in a two-week period during summer 2016.

Each consequent training I’ve attended since holds the same feeling of magic and potencia as Level 1, but my heart and mind are blown wide open now that I’ve experienced what is possible in local and global community, on my mat, for my (adult and school-aged) students, and in my own life. Doing the work of Baptiste Yoga has without question made my head a better place (where ironically I spend much less time) and has strengthened every aspect of my life from parenting to career to every single relationship. I can’t imagine my life without the work that I do each day on and off the mat.

I live in Ballston Lake, NY with my partner, five children, three cats and a dog. In my spare time I lead Unstoppable trainings (I’ve just been invited to lead one at my state PE conference this year!), teach yoga at Mariaville Goat Farm, and I love to cook and travel.
