What does it take to live a successful life?  Does it magically happen for some people who are just fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time?

The answer to that is a big fat NO!

Success takes a lot of hard work, and it is something that anyone can obtain if they put the effort into it.

Here are a few of the things that I have found best improved my life in both the work world as well as my overall wellbeing and lifestyle.

Commitment

The first thing is Commitment.  I can not stress enough how much of a difference this makes in your life.

Whether it’s committing to plans with friends, projects at work, or even just things in your personal schedule like getting up early or doing chores around the house, it can be difficult to follow through with things.

Committing to making plans and getting them done on time instead of procrastinating makes a world of difference. Personally, it’s not only helped me with my stress levels but also helped me feel more confident about stepping outside of my comfort zone and doing more with my life.

Accountability

Be honest with yourself and learn from your journey.  Not everything is going to go the way that you plan, and that’s okay.

This is an opportunity to grow!

When things don’t go right, that’s the perfect opportunity to self-reflect (not blame) and learn from whatever it was that caused you to have this momentary failure.

Independence

Success is not going to just fall from the sky, unfortunately (trust me, I have been waiting for that to happen for many years).

Success is something that you are going to have to find on your own, and that often means stepping outside of your comfort zone.

Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love it when people help me out.  I’m not saying that accepting help from others is bad! The point I am making is that we should never be expecting the world to just hand us success on a silver platter.

Goals

Lastly, create goals for yourself. This is something that has helped me immeasurably.

If you create step-by-step goals that lead to what you hope to achieve, everything will become less intimidating and more achievable in your mind.

Change your mindset from “I’m not there yet” to “I am one step closer.” This helps boost confidence and motivates you to make progress toward your desired destination.

These things have helped me immensely in my life, and I have seen nothing but improvement once I applied these tools.

Start committing to the things that will make your life better and see how much of a difference it makes. How can you apply these key steps in your life?

Take a moment and write down some personalized ideas that will move you forward in a solid, encouraging way. You’ll be amazed by what a difference it can make!
